History of SF Dent

Paintless dent repair  or PDR began in the late 1980’s. It has become a very viable and inexpensive way to repair door dings, hail damage and other minor dents. In 1993, Steve Stein started Sioux Falls Dent, Inc. Steve has been working as a certified Paintless dent repairman ever since. Steve brought twelve years of auto sales and finance experience starting in March of 1982. In January of 1998, Steve personally trained his good and trusted friend, Mike Timmerman in to Sioux Falls Dent, Inc. as a partner. Together they have built a very successful dent repair business.

In regards to training people for this industry, please understand that Steve and Mike are not just salespeople selling a program. They bring over 25 years of combined working experience to the program. Steve and Mike both KNOW what it takes to be successful in this business. They also KNOW how much training it takes to do this important and profitable job. Over the course of their careers they have had many of their dealership and body shop customers send their employees for training in competitors’ PDR programs only to find that on return the employee could not perform the work of a PDR technician.

In the program that we provide, students need about 15 days of training. We train for 4 to 5 hours per day. PDR requires a great deal of concentration and is not something that “just anybody” can learn. We will work with a student and provide marketing ideas to be successful in this industry.

Our classes never have more than three people per instructor, usually two people. Based on the student, we can assure you, when that student completes our program, they will be doing billable work. Steve and Mike do the actual training. We allow no one else to perform training classes.

PDR is a very technical profession. It is NOT a quick and easy “get rich quick” program. Sioux Falls Dent Academy welcomes anyone or any dealership to enter this industry. If you want to learn this profession, then “LEARN IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME”!
